Journey 3

Journey 3
A number of very specific choices have led you to be in this particular class in this particular school. Each choice represents not only what was gained, but what was foregone in order to get you here. What was forgone is defined as the opportunity cost of what was gained. In your opinion, what have been some of the opportunity costs of getting you into PAS in general and this class in particular? Keep in mind that money is only one kind of cost--there are many more things that make up opportunity cost, both tangible and intangible. Considering that you most likely had little control over many of the decisions that got you here, do you think the decisions that were made were rational? In other words, if you analyze the costs and benefits, do the benefits outweigh the costs? Why or why not? If you had been in total control of your life, would you have made the same decisions? Explain.

-          The opportunity costs that I chose PAS are the local schools or any others school in Taiwan that I gave up to study. Besides, studying is PAS cost a lost money comparing than any other local school in Taiwan. Therefore, I spend lots money studying in PAS instead of cheap tuition schools. Other opportunity costs of taking high school economic class are other courses I gave up, and the knowledge from other courses that I can learned from.

-          In my opinion, despite all the opportunity costs of studying in PAS, I believe I made a rational choice. Although studying in PAS costs lots of money, but the benefits of studying abroad is definitely worth it. Consider this decision as a long-term investment; I can pursue to get in a prestige university in USA. The knowledge and opportunities provide from the US universities are surely way more than Taiwanese schools. Besides, I can get a better job according to my career. In conclusion, the benefits are overweigh the costs.
-       If I have a total control on my life, I will make the same decision that my parents made for me. Since not every student has this chance to study in PAS, I will take this chance as a privilege and challenge myself.
